TIPS & TRICKS: Wear comfortable clothing!

I was coaching a student who said she was struggling to speak loudly while giving important pitches. When she went to networking events, people asked her to speak up. Her body felt tense and uncomfortable and she didn’t feel confident. She was frustrated because she wasn’t a shy person and had no problems speaking up in her everyday life.

So I asked her. “What clothes were you wearing?”. We figured out that she was constantly wearing tight clothing that was squishing her stomach and ribs which caused her to have more shallow breaths. Just like in singing, if we aren’t breathing from our diaphragm, we don’t have the power to sing loudly or comfortably. I told her to try wearing more comfortable clothes and practice breathing from her stomach when she was overwhelmed. BAM! The next event she went to, she felt more confident and less anxious. So loosen those belts!

See you all next time!!! Have a great week! - Elanna ❤️
